Our partner organizations would love to have the help that ONLY a local can offer. Sometimes additional training is needed, or the volunteer tasks need consistency.

All of the volunteer events on our Calendar Page are available to locals as well!

The City of Sedona Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide variety of opportunities for community engagement that encourage stewardship of our shared parks resources, including special event support (setup before events, a wide range of support roles during events, cleanup after events), Park Ambassador (cleanups, park steward), Park Ranger (uniformed parks representative to assist park users, residents and visitors).

Typical volunteer tasks include: A wide range of special event tasks, cleanups, program support, and community assistance.

Free to Be Me Drum Circle is a non-profit, all volunteer charity group helping kids at risk, kids K-12, elders, prison inmates, special needs, and beyond. Also, private occasions by providing loving educational rythmic family fun drumming events. b We also host every 3rd Saturday of the month at Posse Grounds Pavillion / Hub drumming event. 12-2 pm throughout the year.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Setting up and taking down drums, percussion, chairs. Assist participants, tech sound support, administrative, and all talents welcome! Nothing heavy.

Friends of the Forest is a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization, with membership open to all who are dedicated to maintaining, protecting, and restoring the scenic beauty of our National Forest lands in the Sedona area for the enjoyment and use of present and future generations. By building a partnership with the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest, Friends of the Forest volunteers help fill the gap between needs and resources. We provide teamwork and financial resources to assist the Forest Service in its day-to-day operations.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Range from working indoors at Visitor Information Center, to building trails, to technology support.

Friends of the Verde River (Friends) works collaboratively for a healthy, flowing Verde River system. Friends is a non-profit based in Cottonwood, Arizona, that implements on-the-ground projects, facilitates regional coordination, and informs statewide policy from the local perspective. Over the past decade, Friends has grown into an organization with professional staff implementing conservation in the Verde Watershed at a landscape scale. We focus our work on restoring habitat, sustaining river flows, and building supportive communities. We proactively engage in a combination of “boots-on-the-ground” projects and policy solutions guided by sound conservation principles and which meet human and environmental needs in an outcomes-oriented manner. Volunteers are critical to the work we do, and we hope you will join us!

Typical volunteer tasks include: Fieldwork, restoration efforts, and working on promotional signup tables.

Humane Society of Sedona is designed to allow every person who desires the love of a pet to be able to adopt and provide a forever-loving home. We provide quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. As a no-kill shelter, no healthy animal or animal with a treatable behavior or medical condition will ever by euthanized. We do not euthanize because of lack of space or as population control.

Keep Sedona Beautiful is committed to protecting and sustaining the scenic beauty and natural environment of Sedona and the Verde Valley. Founded in 1972, Keep Sedona Beautiful is a vehicle for positive change in Sedona and the Verde Valley. We aim to preserve the wonder of the Sedona area’s scenic natural beauty now and in the future. Our activities range from education and advocacy to hands-on tasks such as litter lifting and maintaining Sedona’s dark, star-studded night skies.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Litter lifting, landscaping, and event support, such as speaker series and dark skies.

Manzanita Outreach, a leading food assistance provider, is dedicated to sharing the abundance of resources in the community with dignity and joy. Our mission extends beyond food distribution; we focus on providing fresh, nutritious options while fostering a sense of community. Central to the organization's success are its dedicated volunteers, who serve as the backbone, contributing over 150 volunteer hours per week on average. Their unwavering commitment echoes through every food parcel delivered, every supportive interaction, and every shared smile. Join their goal to make Yavapai County the nation's first food-secure county, where nutritious meals and compassion abound.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Portioning bulk food, Lining crates for food packing, administrative tasks, sorting books, packing food bags.

Oak Creek Watershed Council works to protect Oak Creek through stewardship engagement, partnerships with local agencies and interest groups, outreach and education, and scientific monitoring. A watershed is defined as the total area of land that drains into a specific watershed; therefore, litter removal anywhere on the Oak Creek Watershed keeps litter out of Oak Creek! This protects wildlife, habitat, and water quality and encourages others to keep the area clean as well. We find that these cleanups are often a fun team-building activity for groups of coworkers, club members, or any other group of people who are associated but may not know each other well.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Litter cleanups, either in Oak Creek Canyon or in Sedona. OCWC provides all the necessary materials, so all our volunteers need to bring is outdoor-appropriate clothing and a positive attitude!

Red Rock Ranger District, Coconino National Forest, is dedicated to conserving our local trails and hiking paths. Doing regular trail maintenance and construction to ensure that all of our trails are continually accessible and usable for the community.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Non-motorized trail maintenance and construction.

Red Rock State Park is dedicated to positively impacting the environment and your community. Whether you're interested in conservation or education or just can’t get enough of nature, various volunteer roles can be tailored to your interests and availability. With opportunities to live on-site and volunteer as a Camp Host, or want to give back to the community by volunteering directly for your local State Park, Arizona State Parks has tons of opportunities for you to help enhance and preserve Arizona’s most beautiful places for the benefit of everyone!

Typical volunteer tasks include: Interpretation, landscaping/gardening, maintenance, and helping school groups.

The Rotary Club of Sedona Village is an organization that improves people's lives locally and globally through service.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Oak Creek Clean-up, fundraising for Veterans, and support for seniors at local retirement centers.

SCORE is a national Mentoring organization with a chapter in Prescott. We cover an area just North of Phoenix to the Utah border on the North and to both the East and West borders of Arizona. Our mission is to help new businesses get started the right way. We also help any existing business, who are having problems or questions and any owner that is wanting to sell out.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Mentoring new businesses getting started.

Sedona Area Homeless Alliance provides Comprehensive services and programs serving those who are experiencing homelessness in Sedona and the Verde Valley.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Food Collection- sorting/packing donated nonperishable foods, restocking pantry shelves, restocking Item shelves, Assembling “Kits”- ie: women’s monthly kits, children’s GoodNight bags, school backpacks etc., wrapping holiday gifts, Operation Bedroll- creating bedrolls for the homeless from grocery bags.

Sedona Area Veteran & Community Outreach focuses on civic and social activities that are patriotic and non-political in nature. And, you don’t have to be a veteran to join. Our members are civic-minded women and men who care about the Sedona community. All members have the privilege of voting on organizational matters, holding elected or appointed office in the organization, and simply participating in whatever projects or activities interest them. Informal monthly meetings are held at the Sedona Community Center, 2615 Melody Lane, Sedona, AZ 86336 and fundraising activities, such as our annual Charity Golf Event, are held throughout the year. Whether you have an hour to spare every now and then, or are looking for an outlet for your time and talents — we welcome you to join SAVCO. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit group. Our mission is to be a vital, inclusive, and growing organization that embraces everyone. Our motto is “Continuing to Serve”

Typical volunteer tasks include: SAVCO is proud to fly Flags in celebration and remembrance during major National holidays. Eight times a year we proudly display the U.S. Colors along 89A in West Sedona from Dry Creek Road to Airport Road. This has become known as the “89 Flags on 89A” project. Litter pickup twice a year on SAVCOs designated mile on 89a. Helping with the Toys for Tots program by picking up donated toys, sorting, and distributing toys. Plan & participate in the Sedona Memorial Day Ceremony.

Sedona Arts Center is one of Northern Arizona’s oldest nonprofit organizations; Sedona Arts Center continues to educate, inspire, and be a gathering place for artists and the community through exhibits, workshops, and its gallery shop.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Event set up and break down, gallery sitting, and event support.

At Sedona Community Center, our Mission is to contribute to the health and well-being of the Seniors in the Greater Sedona area. We do that through Meals on Wheels, Community Meals, and social events and physical activity.

Typical Volunteer opportunities include: Dining room servers, dining room greeters, and Meals on Wheels delivery drivers, gardeners, seasonal decorators, filling breakfast club bags, and so much more! Click below to sign up!

Sedona Community Food Bank (SCFB) is a local nonprofit that has been serving the people in the greater Sedona area for over 43 years.  SCFB strives to nourish our clients with integrity and understanding.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Sorting, date checking, weighing and stocking the shelves with food. Occasionally, we offer customer service by assisting clients to their cars with food. We look forward to your volunteer help!

Sedona’s Tools Empowering People (STEP) is a tool lending library run by volunteers housed at the West Sedona Library. We are part of the Northern Az Climate Change Alliance, a nonprofit whose mission is to educate and empower people to take action against the negative impact of a changing climate. STEP's tool lending reduces waste by putting seldom-used tools in the hands of community members for home reuse and repair projects. Tool lending is organized through an online platform.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Tool evaluators, tool runners, tool fixers, digital techs, builders, communications to write content to promote STEP to the community, and innovators to develop ideas to improve STEP.

Trash Dogs Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization striving to create more opportunities for people and groups to help clean up off-road, hiking, highways, and other roads/trail systems that have been polluted through the numerous ways of littering. Furthermore, Trash Dogs educates all volunteers on the Leave No Trace Principles and proper ways to clean up, enjoy, and respect National Forest and BLM land to continue to work towards a sustainable future.

Typical volunteer tasks include: ATV trail clean-up and trail maintenance.

Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition is a community-based 501 (c) (3) nonprofit established in 1992 to solve the critical social issue of older adults living alone without family or friends to assist them with activities crucial to their independence so they can remain in their homes. We are committed to our mission to support and encourage older adults in their quest to age in place in their community of choice by enhancing their independence, promoting higher quality of life, and reducing barriers to happiness, making the Verde Valley an attractive and sustainable retirement destination.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Call Center — matching volunteers with neighbor requests, providing information and referrals, and determining eligibility. ​Mobility Management — in-home assessments, explaining services and resources, transporting neighbors to medical appointments and grocery stores. Assistant Services — friendly visits and phone calls, email buddy, handy person assistance, business assistance, respite assistance, patient scribe, pet assistance, computer and smartphone coaching.

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity builds & rehabs decent, affordable homes for low-income, qualified families. Office & ReStore is located in Cottonwood and services all of Verde Valley.

Typical volunteer tasks include: New home construction, critical home repairs, ReStore assistance, event support, and administrative tasks

Verde Valley Homeless Coalition serves those experiencing homelessness in the Verde Valley and Sedona. Our volunteers are extremely valuable to us. Without their help, our way of serving the homeless would be impossible. If you have extra time and would like to donate it to our cause, please fill out the volunteer application and join us. You will get great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment with Verde Valley Homeless Coalition.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Center maintenance, meal preparation, and fundraising.

Verde Valley Neighborhood Food Project, aka The Green Bag Project is a 100% volunteer-run organization partnering with Manzanita Outreach. On the second Saturday of every even-numbered month, our volunteers collect about 12,000 pounds of shelf-stable food from the doorsteps of local green bag donors and share the food at no cost with 9 small food pantries valley-wide. Our collection sites are located in Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Cottonwood, and Camp Verde.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Food donations, working sign up tables at local markets, sorting food, canvassing to expand donor base, drivers, and helping with special events.

Verde Valley Humane Society exists to humanely care for unwanted, lost, and abused animals; and to promote animal adoptions and welfare through its policies and presence in the community. As a socially conscious shelter, we strive to ensure the best outcome for each homeless cat and dog in our care. Our goal is to place each healthy, safe animal in a forever home.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Dog walking, cat socialization, dishes, laundry, window washing, and sanitizing.

Verde Valley Sanctuary's mission is to provide safety, services, and comfort to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The volunteer opportunities are with the well-known Twice Nice Thriftiques. Store staff and volunteers promote the Sanctuary’s mission, encourage Arizona tax credit donations, spread the news about public events, and provide a safe place for survivors of domestic and sexual violence to find immediate refuge and support, and provide Sanctuary clients a great shopping experience (at no cost to them). These Thriftiques are the “Gold Standard” of thrift stores. Nothing goes on the floor without being cleaned, steamed, polished, spruced up, and attractively displayed.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Steam cleaning donated clothing, working the register for purchases, preparing donated items for display, pricing and tagging donated items, crafting attractive displays, cleaning the store, and helping store visitors find items.

Wheel Fun is a nonprofit founded in the Verde Valley, Arizona. We strive to get young people off electronic devices and outdoors onto mountain bikes! We are honored to offer free programs and mountain bikes to a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds, races, and identities who would otherwise be unable to participate.

Typical volunteer tasks include: Wheel Fun is seeking dedicated mountain bike coaches to volunteer one day a week at participating schools, helping to foster a love for cycling and the outdoors in our youth. No Coaching experience is needed, Wheel Fun will provide you with the curriculum you need.

At Words & Warmth, we provide new, warm, handcrafted items to children and families. You can help by making a no-sew fleece blankets, write inspiring messages, or knitting/crocheting a scarf. We will provide all materials. Our handcrafted love is donated to foster children, military folks, Native Americans and those in shelters or who are homeless. We hope you will engage and spread the love.
